Conference dinner – Friday 24 June 2011

Customs House, one of Brisbane's heritage icons, is located on the Brisbane River in the CBD. It is owned and operated by The University of Queensland as a cultural, educational and heritage facility. Behind the grand Corinthian columns you will find the exquisite ballroom, the IOP conference dinner venue.

Pre-dinner drinks will be served at 7pm downstairs overlooking the Brisbane River and Story Bridge and will provide a perfect opportunity to get to know your fellow conference delegates before a three-course dinner accompanied by fine Australian wines. An elegant evening of socialising and dancing will follow, with entertainment provided by a local band. 

Conference delegates are invited to bring a partner to the dinner so everyone can enjoy the social highlight of IOP 2011!

Delegates are invited to attend a networking function where you will be able to use this opportunity to mix with your fellow delegates over an informal dinner. The evening will be hosted by an IOP Conference Committee Member and structured so that every opportunity is made available for you to expand your networks both during and after the conference. This is a new initiative/event for the IOP 2011 conference and a wonderful opportunity to meet other psychologists and make new acquaintances especially if you are attending the IOP conference on your own. The atmosphere and environment will be very friendly and relaxed whilst enjoying a delicious meal.

Cost: 

The networking dinner is an optional extra and is not included in the conference registration fee. Tickets cost $50 and this includes the food only - all you can eat Japanese BBQ: guests order whatever meats, seafood, vegetables, salad, rice, noodles etc. that they wish over a 90 minute period and dinner patrons cook the meal themselves on a BBQ built into the table. Tickets must purchased prior to the conference during the registration process (there is limited seating available for this function). A cash bar (only - sorry, no credit cards) will be available for delegates to purchase their drinks at the function at their own cost during the evening. 

Getting there: 

Guests to make their own arrangements. Restaurant is a ten minute cab ride from Southbank or CBD approx $12.

Student delegates of the conference are invited to attend a networking function. This is a rare opportunity to meet your peers from other universities, other states (and other countries) and enjoy the company of your friends. The format of the event will be fairly informal with some initial structured networking activities to help break the ice! We look forward to seeing you there.

Who should attend? Any and all aspiring organisational psychologists (i.e., students and intern psychologists) who are registered for the conference.
